I still remember when Wiz dropped Star Power, amazed at how much raw potential this young weed connoisseur had, yet he was still as underground as underground gets. Who would have ever guessed that 3 mixtapes later Wiz would drop Kush & OJ and proceed to make history. It was just a matter of time I guess.

5 tapes in, we couldn’t possibly determine if Retch will be as successful as Wiz but, we would be fools not to acknowledge the young New Jersey native’s familiar raw potential and authentic underground essence. Delinquents & Degenerates shows us that Retch has found his lane and certainly knows who he is as an artist. As a listener, you can’t ask for too much more than that.

Delinquents & Degenerates starts very rugged to say the least. Ignited by a dark and erie banger, Retch’s gritty lyrics on “Blockwork” set the tone for the entire record. Delinquents & Degenerates quickly transitions into a smooth, trippy, and deep body of music. Spearheaded by polished rap acts and lustrous sounds, the bulk of Delinquents & Degenerates is incredibly captivating. The entire record is not only highly entertaining but is also a very relaxing listen. Retch showcases a whole new array of sleek flows while diving deeper into who he is as person through is brutally real content. In fact as much as we enjoyed the high octane tracks on the record, it was tracks like “Grandma” and “Livin’ Wrong” that truly showed us is innate storytelling ability. It’s certainly much more than just music for him.

Delinquents & Degenerates is complete with both tracks you can turn up to and tracks to get high to. Not to mention one of the coolest chillwave tracks out with “Spaced out & I’m high”. Spotlight verses from Da$h, Aston Matthews, and Sulaiman as well as noteworthy production from Crank and LeKen Taylor make Delinquents & Degenerates well worth a listen.
